BSA Troop 51 is based in Old Saybrook, CT, and our chartered organization is Grace Episcopal Church. The scoutmaster is Steve Patarini


The troop meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, unless specifically noted on the calendar.

new rank requirements

Effective January 1, 2008 the following Boy Scout rank requirements will be changed to:
  • Tenderfoot, revised requirement #9:  Explain the importance of the buddy system as it relates to your personal safety on outings and in your neighborhood.  Describe what a bully is and how you should respond to one.
  •  Second Class, new requirement #8b:  Explain the three R's of personal safety and protection.
  • First Class, new requirement #12:  Describe the three things you should avoid doing related to use of the Internet.  Describe a cyberbully and how you should respond to one.
  • Any Scout who hasn't completed Tenderfoot, Second Class or First Class will need to complete the new requirements strarting on January 1st.
  •  These changes will be represented in the 2008 Boy Scout Requirements book and the revised ninth printing of the 11th edition of the Boy Scout Handbook.

note from the seniors 

          As always, scout activities are an no cell phone environment. If your parents need to contact you or you need to contact them, the adults will have phones available.  Also  if you come to any camping events wearing sneakers, you will be sent home to get boots.
